Development Associate

Position Summary:
This full-time position will assist in the development management functions of MIGIZI. The Associate will be responsible for managing the fundraising database and systems for operations and programs to advance the development efforts of the organization.
Overall Responsibility: The Development Associate plays an essential role as the person responsible for setting up and managing the Salesforce database, which tracks relationships, individual gifts, grants, deadlines, and more. The Development Associate also plays an important role in funder and donor identification, cultivation, and stewardship. The Development Associate reports to the President of MIGIZI.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Responsibilities:

Responsible for the input and management of donor information in the organization’s Salesforce database.

Responsible for timely acknowledgment of all gifts made to the organization.

Assist in planning and implementing fundraising and donor stewardship events.

Assist in fundraising efforts conducted via social media by Marketing and Communications Director

Assist in grant report and proposal writing for operations and programs
-
Participate in staff meetings, and other vital administrative, promotional, and organization-related meetings and activities.

Assist the Development committee on tasks for prospect solicitation, correspondence, meeting planning, notes

Manage donor mailing and publications, including all development campaigns and appeals, event follow-up correspondence and donor giving lists for various publications

Grants management for reporting and deadlines for foundation, corporate and government grants
Assist in funder and donor identification, cultivation, and stewardship:
• Research and identify foundation and individual donor prospects;
• Produce and maintain organizational support documents for grant application and reporting materials;
• Ensure grants and gifts are acknowledged in a timely manner;
• Regularly refresh acknowledgments and stewardship pieces.

Help with development content for the website, newsletter and social media outlets

Program, Annual Reports, event invitations coordination

Assist with obtaining stories of Donors to MIGIZI

Assist with communications to committees and Board of Directors
Administrative/Bookkeeping

Assist in preparing board of directors development materials for development

Reconcile gifts/grants with Finance and Salesforce Database

Maintain files and records for financial information of grants and individuals
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
-
Fundraising and program data base management experience.
-
Ability to accurately and effectively communicate the mission and vision of MIGIZI
-
Understands the principles of youth programs
-
Professional experience in fund development, programs and grantmaking

Excellent writing skills, demonstrating accuracy, creativity, and persuasiveness

Demonstrated ability to create positive working relationships with staff of the organization, as well as with contacts and associates outside of the organization.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work successfully as a member of a team.

Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.

Ability to work calmly and professionally in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Dependability, initiative, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independent of constant supervision.

Understanding of basic bookkeeping

Experience in on-line and social media communications
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree or a minimum of three years experience working in fundraising or non profit development
Familiarity with donor and program database management. Experience with Sales Force is a plus.
Familiarity with youth programs, operations and volunteer management.
Experience working in Native American communities

Salary range $50,000 - $58,000 depending on experience; generous benefits package that includes medical and dental, 401k with company match, generous vacation and holidays
