is our middle and high school program focusing on science, technology, and math. NAC has been nationally recognized as a model for Indian student success. In 2014, the program was awarded a grant from the US Department of Education, Office of Indian Education and is working to increase the academic performance, graduation rates, and postsecondary enrollment rates of American Indian students in Minneapolis.
is our summer programming where we expose young people to cultural traditions, philosophies, and activities. We have a lot of fun in bringing numerous guest speakers to give us their wisdom in their respected field of expertise of which we gain insight on our own individual journeys through our society and life today. We are constantly engaged through means of hands-on-experiences and we quest to important sites for new perspectives and different world-views.
is our after school program during the public school school year. We have friendly faces and knowledgeable staff to help students engage their work and get stuff done! We provide an open space for academic success and have free-to-use computers, quiet rooms, and even snacks so that we are able to function at our highest potential! Native Youth Futures
and our Native Youth Financially Independent (NYFI) initiative is MIGIZI’s newest program. NYFI is designed to provide Indian young people (ages 14-21) with the wealth-generating experiences and opportunities that have not been available to previous generations, but are required to achieve economic independence in today’s economy. The project connects students with internship opportunities to earn income and contribute savings to Individual Development Accounts targeted for postsecondary education. The internships and IDAs, coupled with Financial Literacy and mentorship, will provide youth with the motivation and "reason” to believe that postsecondary education is, indeed, within their reach.
