AISES Accolades in Albuquerque for Minneapolis students' science projects

 The results are in from the awards ceremony at NAISEF (National American
Indian Science and Engineering Fair) here in beautiful Albuquerque, New
Mexico.  All of the six Minneapolis students represented their schools and
community with honor and I am very proud of every one of them.   Please
join me in celebrating their success.

From South High School:

Juana Espinoza and Michelle LaGarde:
First place in the Environmental Management category, $135 each
First place in 12th grade Environmental Management, medal
First place in the 11th grade math competition (as a team), certificate
and $50 each.
IBM top team award of $500 each (that’s $1,000 total)
Ricoh Sustainable Development Award
Stockholm Junior Water Prize Award for best water-related project
One of the top 12 projects (out of 300) and the next project to be sent to
ISEF (International Science and Engineering Fair) if there are any
finalists who can't make it.

Cheyenne Mason- Brousseau:
Second place in Chemistry, grade 10
Second place in Chemistry overall category.
First place in the 10th grade math competition (team with Arnoldo Bruce),
certificate and $50
Navy Award for Excellence, $75 and certificate
American Chemical Society Award for an outstanding project in chemistry,
$150 and certificate

Micah Hill:
First place in Medicine and Health overall category, $135.
First place in grade 12 Medicine and Health, medal
Second place in the 11th grade math competition, $75
Grand Award winner (top six projects).  Will compete at ISEF
(International Science and Engineering Fair) in Los Angeles May 8-13.

From Nawayee Center School:

Arnoldo Bruce:
Second place in 10th grade Environmental Sciences, medal
First place in the 10th grade math competition (team with Cheyenne
Mason-Brousseau), certificate and $50


Nadirah Abdus-Salam:
First place in the Behavioral Sciences overall category, $135
First place in grade 12 Behavioral Sciences, medal
Second place in the 12th grade math competition.
American Psychological Society outstanding project award
Mu Alpha Theta Award for outstanding use of mathematics
Bill Ward Memorial Award for best use of statistics
US Metric Society Award for best use of the metric system
Ranked as one of the top 12 projects (out of 300)
